The Lions Club of Mechanicsburg hosts an annual Golf Tournament that supports our volunteer-driven service organization committed to improving the lives of individuals and families in our community. For over 75 years, we work in partnership with local nonprofits, schools, and service initiatives to meet a wide variety of needs—from food, clothing, and housing, to education, cancer support, and vision care.
The proceeds from the tournament provides us with the ability to make charitable donations and support organizations such as: Vision Resources of Central Pennsylvania, New Hope Ministries, Meals-on-Wheels, Pink Hands of Hope, One80 Ministries, Mission Central, Eye Glasses and Hearing Aids for adults & children in need, A Soldier’s Hand, Silver Spring Township Veterans Memorial, Little League Baseball, Girls Softball, Operation Wildcat, PA Lions Hearing Research Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), “Give From the Heart” at area Elementary Schools, J.T. Simpson Public Library, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Susquehanna Service Dogs, the Mechanicsburg Senior Center, PA Beacon Lodge for Blind & handicapped campers, Cumberland Co. Seeing Eye Puppies, Mechanicsburg Museum Assoc., Mechanicsburg Harvest Festival, Business awards for local High School Students, multiple Eagle Scout Projects, Dog TAGS for Vets, Ironstone Ridge Nature Center, Cumberland Valley Mini-thon for Children’s Cancer, District Governor’s Projects, Lions Club International, Vision Screening equipment that has helped our club complete vision screenings for over 15,000 children and adults.
The 6th Annual “We Serve Golf Tournament
The 6th Annual “We Serve” Golf Tournament, held on July 10, 2026 was an outstanding success. The tournament welcomed 112 golfers and 87 sponsors and generated 375 service hours from 36 Lions. The event realized a record-breaking profit of $14,102, exceeding last year’s total by $3,279. Committee Chair Lion Wayne DeFonzo expressed his appreciation to the tournament committee and everyone who volunteered or contributed to the success of the event. The entire amount of the profits go towards the charitable organizations and services outlined above.
The club thanked Lion Wayne for his dedication and leadership in organizing this outstanding fundraising event. The 7th Annual “We Serve” Golf Tournament is scheduled for July 9, 2027.
