The Lions Club of Mechanicsburg, Pa. participates in various events and festivities within the Mechanicsburg borough and local area. As such we will recognize these activities here as they are outside our continuous focus of service to Mechanicsburg and the local area,

Mechanicsburg Center Square Ribbon Cutting
The Mechanicsburg Center Square project is officially complete, and check out those beautiful hanging baskets our club donated as part of our 75th Anniversary celebration from last year! Our club was represented well by our President Coco Houghtaling, Lions Jane Drake, Lion/Mayor John Anthony along with several others.
Mechanicsburg Art & Wine Walk
The spirit of service was on full display as eight dedicated members of the Lions Club of Mechanicsburg volunteered at this year’s annual Art & Wine Walk on May 5th, hosted by the Downtown Mechanicsburg Partnership. Focused on supporting local economic development, the event brought the community together for an day of art, entertainment, and small business engagement—and the Lions were there to help it all run smoothly.
Stationed at the registration area, the Lions greeted participants with warm smiles and their trademark enthusiasm, setting a welcoming tone for the evening. Guests were met with a festive atmosphere, highlighted by a stunning arch of balloons that created the perfect backdrop for photos. One of the volunteers captured these special moments as attendees arrived, adding a personal touch to the experience.
Beyond registration, Lions members also assisted by distributing brochures and event bags, ensuring participants were well-prepared to explore the many local businesses featured along the walk. Their efforts helped create a seamless and enjoyable experience for all who attended.
Following the event, the club received a heartfelt note of appreciation from the event’s co-chair, who thanked the Lions for their participation and for bringing smiling faces to a very busy and successful day.
The Mechanicsburg Lions Club continues to demonstrate its commitment to community service, and their support of the Art & Wine Walk is yet another example of their positive impact in the downtown area.
National Library Week
President Coco Houghtaling and Lion Dwane Houghtaling attended the National Library Week reception in April , which was hosted by the Simpson Library. Lizzy Seidel presided over the event. The reception served as an expression of gratitude to the organizations that provide support to the library.

Alliance for The Chesapeake Bay
Lions John Burkhart and Don Graewe assisted in planting 300 trees in the Littlestown, PA area today, in collaboration with the Alliance for The Chesapeake Bay. Several members from other Lions Clubs were also present at the event.
