Founded in 1970 as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Breakthrough T1D has one conviction: through research, Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) CAN and WILL be cured.

Over 500 million people all over the world are living with T1D. By 2045, that number is expected to exceed 700 million. Lions, supported by the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), are working to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve the lives of those living with the disease.

The Mechanicsburg Lions Club participates in various events organized by Breakthrough T1D, including the annual Harrisburg-area Breakthrough T1D Walk, held in October.
